Spinal Flow

Spinal Flow is a gentle, nervous system technique that releases stored stress from the spine so your body can do what it was always designed to do - heal itself.

What is Spinal Flow?

Spinal Flow is a holistic healing modality that works with the nervous system to identify and release stored blockages along the spine. Using seven gateways and 33 specific access points, Spinal Flow locates where chemical, physical and emotional stress has disrupted communication between the brain and the nervous system — and gently clears the way.
When those pathways are blocked, the body struggles. Pain, fatigue, digestive issues, emotional overwhelm and a sense of disconnection are all common signs. Spinal Flow works at the source, not the symptom.

Who created Spinal Flow?

The Spinal Flow Technique was developed by chiropractor Dr. Carli Axford. Through years of hands-on clinical experience and a deep curiosity about the body's capacity to heal, Dr. Axford identified what she calls the spinal flow wave - the body's natural healing intelligence and built a technique designed to activate and expand it.

How does Spinal Flow work?

A certified Spinal Flow practitioner makes gentle contact with the 33 access points along your head and spine. Each point acts as a gateway, triggering a spinal wave that moves through the body, softening and releasing blockages as it goes.

The goal is to shift your nervous system out of fight or flight and into a parasympathetic state — rest, digest, heal. When that happens, your body stops bracing and starts recovering.

The result is structural realignment, stress release and for most people, a deep sense of calm they didn't expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Spinal Flow is different to anything most people have tried before. Below are the questions we hear most often.

If yours isn't answered here, reach out directly and we'll get back to you.

1. Is it safe? Does it hurt?

Completely safe and completely gentle. Spinal Flow uses only light touch with no cracking, no manipulation and no force involved. Most people are surprised by how subtle it is, and how deeply they respond to it. It is safe for all ages including children and during pregnancy.

2. What do I wear?

Stay in your clothes, you don't need to change. We just ask that you avoid jeans, belts, thick seams along the spine or shapewear. Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal. Think of what you'd wear to a yoga class.

3. What will I actually feel during a session?

Everyone responds differently, and every session can feel different even for the same person. Some people experience deep relaxation, warmth, changes in breathing or spontaneous movement. Some feel emotional. Some describe it as the closest thing to meditation they've ever experienced without trying. There is no right or wrong response, your body does exactly what it needs to.

4. How many sessions will I need?

That depends on what your body is carrying and how long it has been carrying it. There is no fixed number. What we know is that consistency in the early stages makes the biggest difference. After your initial appointment we will guide you on the best path forward based on what we see in your body.

5. How is it different from chiropractic or massage?

No cracking, no adjustments, or muscle manipulation and no force. While chiropractic and Spinal Flow share a similar philosophy around the spine and nervous system, the approach is very different. Spinal Flow works through light touch at 33 specific access points to communicate directly with the nervous system. The goal is regulation and release, not structural manipulation.

6. Can children have spinal flow?

Yes, and they often respond quickly. Children carry stress too, in their bodies, their nervous systems, their development. Spinal Flow is gentle enough for all ages. For children under 12 please reach out directly and we will find a time that works for your family.

7. What is a group session?

Group sessions are held with one other person in the room. That's it. The space is calm, quiet and still highly personalised. Many people find that being in a shared healing environment actually deepances their own release. Your session is yours, you simply share the room. If you would prefer a completely private setting, one on one sessions are available.

8. Is Spinal Flow covered by private health insurance?

Not currently. Spinal Flow is regulated by its own professional body rather than AHPRA, which means private health rebates don't apply. We recommend checking directly with your provider if you are unsure.
