What Language Does Your Body Use?

The human body is truly an incredible creation, the way that it ticks away doing what it is meant to do without any conscious thought from its human. All the body systems - circulatory, digestive, endocrine, immune, muscular, renal and nervous systems have their unique role to play in the human body; however, most systems cannot work without each other. For example, the heart pumps blood through blood vessels; it may pick up nutrients from your last meal, it carries oxygen inhaled from your lungs, delivers waste products to the kidneys for disposal and also carries hormones from the endocrine system. It is incredible how these systems function to make a human body work entirely because of the body's innate wisdom. It's almost like each system has a brain of its own.

We may expect that there will be a direct signal when something is going wrong in our body - we may hope that we receive a message as a loud and clear symptom, like a flashing sign on a roadway, warning the driver that there is a damaged bridge ahead. If we were all that in tune with our bodies, perhaps it would be easier to detect the more life-threatening illnesses before they take hold. What is important to know is that healthy people can have symptoms (and we want them to), and conversely, unhealthy people can have few or no symptoms.

I remember as a child being on a road trip with my family. We stopped at a service station at Miles, Queensland, and I chose to have a pie for my lunch. The reason I have never forgotten this pie is not that it was the best pie I have ever eaten; it is because of the hours I ended up with my head in a bucket and my backside in a toilet! Within six hours of eating the pie, I had symptoms - uncontrollable and explosive vomiting and diarrhoea. My sister had also eaten a pie from the same charming venue, so you can imagine what was happening in our household and what our mother had to deal with!

The story's point is that I was a healthy child, yet my body was reacting (food poisoning), one I will never forget. My body had cleverly recognised that there was something poisonous in it and was doing everything it could to get rid of it: a healthy body and a normal reaction to toxic bacteria. Just because you have symptoms does not mean you are unhealthy; on the other hand, just because there are no symptoms does not mean you are the picture of health.

If we pay enough attention to our bodies, we will get the whispers that give us clues as to what is happening inside us. For example, a slight ache appears in our stomach after eating, sudden weight loss or gain, more headaches, a change in sleep patterns and feeling generally fatigued. While these may not be symptoms of any serious disease, they can be whispers from our bodies, "Hey, I'm here; can you lend a hand!". It is essential to listen to the whispers before the whispers become the full blow shouting that there is a severe illness knocking at your door. Taking your body for granted and making poor choices over and over again will eventually have an accumulative effect on health.

Did you know your body talks to you? How much do you take for granted that you will keep functioning, even if you treat yourself poorly? When will the accumulative effect of poor choices have an overall impact? Unfortunately, none of us knows, which is why we need to take care of ourselves.

So what can we do? Well, we could start to take care of our bodies; we only get one, and I know I easily forget this fact. Nutrition, rest, movement and spinal flow will all help you accumulate good health. Spinal Flow targets the master controller - the nervous system. The nervous system is THE body system in the function of all body systems; it's the master controller. So regular treatments will help your nervous system. Therefore, your body is more likely to adapt better to stressful situations (remember, stress is chemical, physical and emotional) and for your body to build resilience and accumulate and maintain health.

What is your body trying to tell you right now? Has your body been telling you something, and you have been ignoring it? If you haven't started your Spinal Flow journey, book an initial appointment, we would love to show you how your symptoms relate to blockages in the spine and your overall health. And if you are a client, let's keep working together to ensure a positive health accumulation.
